Message from the Chairman: prof. dr. Karel Jezernik

On behalf of the Power Electronics and Motion Control Council, the National Organizing Committee and the EPE Association I have great pleasure to welcome you to the 12th Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference, EPE-PEMC 2006.

In opposition to the previous conferences held mostly in Central European countries, this Conference is taking place on the coast of the Slovenian Adriatic Sea, in small town of Portoroz. Slovenia is one of the smallest European countries and knows well how to charm visitors with its originality and beauty. In this tiny piece of Europe, the picturesque features of the Alpine, Mediterranean, Karst, and Pannonian worlds are combined. The conference venue Hotel Bernardin offers all the technical conditions for the fruitful and successful conference as well as for a pleasant stay and friendly meeting of conference members. A ten minute walk from each end of the conference venue brings us either to Piran or Portoroz. Piran is one of the oldest cities of Slovenia and is actually one large museum with the medieval architecture and rich culture heritage. Narrow streets and tight houses are a special charm of the town. Portoroz is the most vivid and worldly Slovenian tourist centre of Slovenian coast.

The conference will highlight exciting multidisciplinary areas of Power Electronics and Motion Control that respond to the technological challenges of the 21st century. It will provide a forum for the important technical discussion yielding in integrating the knowledge and experience from the different fields of Power Electronics and Motion Control. Exploration of the current theoretical developments as well as their application to the engineering problems brings an opportunity to strengthen your technical expertise and renew contacts with colleagues from industry and academia. Special emphasis and care will be taken to invite and ensure high quality contributions and to select original contributions.

We are also planning several cultural events and tours. These events will get you known with the rich history and culture of our beautiful green country. We invite you andyour spouse to attend and participate in this high quality technical program and an exciting cultural experience!
